Zacha spent lots of time with us, nosing around with his audio recorder, while we printed some works by Lucas Ihlein and Ian Milliss. The very enthusiastic Zacha asked us a million questions and did everything short of getting his fingers all sticky in the ink himself.

We’re always keen to link up with other printing groups – especially those who are:
(a). socially responsible and politically progressive;
and
(b). better at printing than we are.
In early March we printed this fantastic hand-drawn map of Sydney for writer, artist, and zine-maker Vanessa Berry as part of her project Biblioburbia: The Library Files, in which she visited and documented thirty libraries around the greater Sydney region. Her exhibition – with Simon Yates – at Firstdraft gallery in Surry Hills has sadly opened and closed already, but you can read more about Vanessa’s library visits and the project in general at biblioburbia.wordpress.com.

An Unlikely “Internship”, by Louise Anderson
Now, it’s not many people who can say they know how to and have helped change the blanket on a 4 tonne printing machine (that’s the weight of 8 cars). Actually, a year ago, I thought a blanket was just the rug I use on my bed. But now I know, large offset printing machines use rubber blankets to transport ink from rollers to paper. How did I come by this information? It’s an interesting story.
… a great little video by Nick Coppins.
Last year, Nick and his company, Telectran/Aqualux, fitted and provided a fantastic neutral-light, low wattage LED system for the Big Fag’s printroom. It’s transformed the way we work – we can see into every corner and the colour of our prints is “true” (rather than greenish with the fluoro lights).
In exchange, we worked on making some prints with Nick just before Christmas. Pictures soon!

Read MoreHi all,
a busy time is ahead of us, with the Green Bans Art Walk coming up and filling the month of August with things to do in Wooloomooloo.
The eventful month is part of several publicity platforms and will be cross promoted accordingly, so I thought to clear up the confusion already arising by giving a easy-to-understand schedule of what is going to happen during August at the Big Fag Press headquarters and associates.
Below is the schedule for the Green Ban Art Walk(s), part of the WALK program organised and supported by Performance Space, see here for bookings:
