Green Ban Art Walk video is out!
40 Years of Community & Union Action, 1971-2011. For four years Green Bans inspired Australia and the world. From 1971 in Sydney, thousands of builders labourers voted on over 50 requests to protect the environment and heritage and to keep urban low cost housing. They crusaded for safety reforms on building sites and wider social issues. The Green Bans Art Walk reactivates their legacy for a new generation of activists, artists and architects.
Thanks to Jack Mundey, Joe Owens and Jim Donovan and other speakers and Green Banners for their inspiration and to all the BLs (now CFMEU), past and present for their social conscience. We hope to put low cost inner urban housing back on the action list.
